In the Community

Our lawyers, students and staff recognize that we have the power to effect change by investing time in our communities, and these initiatives are some of the most rewarding aspects of student life at Goodmans!

Clean Toronto Together

In May 2023, Goodmans Summer Students participated in a litter collection initiative through the City of Toronto,“Clean Toronto Together." As a result of the project, over 1,000 cleanups took place across the city and over 70,000 volunteers pitched in to help clean up litter in Toronto’s parks, beaches, and other public spaces. The team also helped in the distribution of gift cards to people experiencing homelessness with the organization “Card for Change – Givesome."

Bike for Baycrest

GOOD people, great weather, and lots of sweat!
In June 2023, some of our summer students and lawyers cycled on the DVP, for Team Goodmans, in the Baycrest Bike for Brain Health to raise funds to defeat dementia.

Pancake Breakfast for United Way

In October 2022, articling students hosted a 70s-themed pancake breakfast to support our United Way campaign! United Way is an organization close to our hearts, and one we support annually.

Goodmans has been honoured by the United Way with an Exemplary Award - which placed Goodmans in the top 15% of all workplace campaigns in Toronto - and with a Spirit Award acknowledging excellence in community giving.

Volunteering at Hands Up Toronto

The summer students spent the day volunteering with Hand Up Toronto, an organization that partners with Global Medic to package food boxes for low income households with children and vulnerable youths.

Meals-to-go at Ronald McDonald House Charities

Goodmans articling students and associates volunteered an afternoon of their time at Ronald McDonald House Charities. They prepared "meals-to-go" to ease the financial and mental burden on non-local families who have children being treated at SickKids hospital, and who use the RMH space as a home away from home.

Lawyers Feed the Hungry

Goodmans regularly supports Lawyers Feed the Hungry by donating and volunteering at The Law Society of Upper Canada.

The Big Bike - Heart & Stroke Foundation

Our summer students recently joined the Goodmans team on the Big Bike in support of the Heart & Stroke Foundation, riding through the downtown core to raise awareness for heart health. Funds raised go towards initiatives like installing defibrillators and funding life-saving research across Canada!
